Honest opinions please?

I got my awesome new T3i for Christmas and I have been trying to do my own portraits of Austin to save money from having to go to a studio like we have done the last 3 years.  He is not the most willing subject, but I got one I kind of like and think will work.  I took it in the house and I of course don't have all the fancy flashes that they have in a studio.  The original has the ugly shadow behind it, so I tried to use my photo editing softward to take it away.  The editted version looks a little fake to me, but I'm trying to decide if it looks too fake, or if it would work.  Give me you honest opinion, what do you think?

  1. I don't think that the picture looks fake and it does look better without the shadow in the background. What are you using it for--just as a three year old portrait to go in your house? With Colton doing pageants and having an agent, we have to have pictures done quite a bit but thankfully I have a friend who is a photographer. She doesn't charge me most of the time and I get about 50 shots or so. Most of them won't work for what I need, because he is either not looking at her or has his eyes closed or it is just a silly shot, but I still enjoy all of them. It is hard to get good shots at this age since they are not so willing sometimes. I think it looks good though.

  2. I think it looks really good. What are you using it for? Is it his official 3 year portrait? Outdoor photos are always my personal favorite but this one is nice. You did a good job getting the shadow out too.

  3. I think it looks pretty great too! I am a huge fan of outdoor pics though... I love natural light and the backgrounds that being outside provides. Great job!

  4. Honestly, I didn't think it looked fake at all. It's the pic that comes up in the feed and I didn't think anything of it until I saw the one with the shadow. I think it's very cute!

  5. I agree the pic doesn't look fake at all. But if you wanted to, you could always make the background a darker gray and you might find it looks less "fake". It's a great shot, by the way!
