Help!

So I was suffering from a bad case of foot-in-mouth syndrome yesterday.  I was at work and one of my co-workers came in to see my office mate and I saw that she had a cute new haircut.  I commented about how cute it was.  She looked at me and said "thanks, I kind of like it, but it will probably be my last one for a while."  Then I remembered that I had been told a few weeks ago that she was going to be receiving breast cancer treatment.  She went on to tell me that she was going to start chemo and they expected all her hair to fall out.

I tried to redeam myself and asked if she had some cute scarfs or hats.  She said that when she goes in for her appointment they have some hats and wigs to pick from because regular hats don't go down far enough to cover the hair line.  So I was thinking about how I have crocheted hats for people in the past and thought that I bet there are patterns for cancer/chemo patients.  So I am in search of such patterns and I know some of my followers are craftaholics, so I was wondering if you have any thoughts on where I might find a pattern?   I am going to do an internet search, but if you have any ideas I would love to hear them.

Thanks!

  1. No ideas, because I am not crafty but you were just being friendly and I am sure she understands! Sounds like a nice thing you are going to do for her! :)

  2. Hi! Just found your blog through Stefanie's. I'm a new follower here.

That's really sweet that you want to make your co-worker a hat to wear during her treatments. My mom just went through chemo... I don't think she would have been offended with a comment on her pre-chemo haircut. :)

Good luck finding patterns on the hat. I'll search around online to and see if I can help you find something.
